FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION 2011-2012

Latest News Girls Football- First of all may I apologise for the lateness of these results being collated.  I was waiting hopefully for any late returns as I had had only these few by the deadline!!
Unfortunately these still remain the only results I have received - maybe an extended playing time next year if it is to be worth continuing to run? (The leagues really can't be made any smaller)!

Congratulations to those who managed to play their games and to the league winners!  I know other teams have played some games so they really DO need to forward on their results even if they don't think they can possibly win the league!

Girls results and tables for 2011/2012 are in files below. Only 3 schools sent their results in which is very dissapointing. Congratulations to Bradway, Intake and Parson's Cross C of E school who were this year's league champions.

Primary Footbal Results for Y6 in files below - Thank you everyone who gave their pupils the opportunity to pull on the school kit and compete with their friends against the school down the road, I'm sure they appreciated your efforts, win, lose or draw.

The 6 league winners will receive certificates within the next few weeks then be invited to play off for an overall Sheffield League Champion in Spring.

Kind regards,

Trevor

Primary Girls Football

Thank you for your entries into the Under 11, 8-a-side, Girls Football League 2011/2012.

I have organised teams into leagues of 4 or 5, hoping that this will give as many schools as possible, ample time to complete their fixtures. Also, I have where possible looked at organising teams
on a geographical basis - unfortunately this has not always been possible.  Can teams arrange games at a mutually convenient time please.

Deadline for matches to be played is December 9th 2011 and results faxed  (2395019) posted (Intake
School, Mansfield Road, Sheffield. S12 2AR) or emailed (k_tiggles@yahoo.co.uk) to me by this date in order for me to collate scores and get them returned to you as soon as possible.

Please see files below for the 2011 - 2012 league details/contacts and a result template to fill in.

Thanks in advance and good Luck everyone!

Primary Boys Football

The following information is to help schools decide which football competitions to enter in the following season.  All 5, or 1 or 2, depending on the time and energy available of the teacher(s) in charge of football.

The 2011/2012 Entry form along with the rules and a copy of the comptition information is available in the files below.

THE ESFA (English Schools) 7 A-SIDE COMPETITION

This is a national competition for boys only and girls only, with squads of 10 players being allowed and normal 7-a-side rules being played.

The first round is usually played one Wednesday after school in October at a host school, usually in
groups of 4 or 5.  The winners of these first rounds will then play off in a Sheffield final some time in November/December.  Therefore, for most schools, this competition is a one off commitment.

The winner of this competition will represent Sheffield in the South Yorkshire Finals to be played
in December/January.  The County winners will then compete in the North East Regional Finals during March.

The format of the Sheffield competition will be decided once entries have been made to make sure that each
school will play a minimum of three or four games in a league.

Although all entry forms should be returned to Trevor Thornton, Ian Rodgers and Paddy Rodgers organise
and run these competitions in Sheffield and at county level.

THE SFSS (Sheffield Schools) 7-A-SIDE LEAGUES

These are Sheffield league competitions whereby teachers must arrange to play fixtures between their
school's teams at Y5 and Y6 for boys, and Y5/6 for girls.

Schools are placed in leagues based on general geographical areas of the city, no more than 8 teams to each
league.  The winners of the Y5 boys' leagues and Y5/6 girls' leagues receive winner's certificates. The winner of
each Y6 boys' league receive certificates and are also invited to a Sheffield City final where an overall League Champion will be crowned.

All entry forms for leagues should be sent to Trevor Thornton who will run the Y5 and Y6 boy's leagues, and
will forward the Y5/6 girls entries to Kath Woodall at Intake who will run the girls' leagues.

The leagues are a big commitment if all fixtures are to be completed.
Teachers can organise their fixtures in any way they see fit but it is strongly advised for schools with access to 2 pitches to organise mutual dates and invite as many fellow league teams as possible.

Hope this helps each teacher choose which competitions to enter in the coming season.

Trevor Thornton

(SFSS Primary Football
Secretary)
