Silverdale School U16 and U19 boy's basketball teams have managed to win two, 2009 national titles, not only in the same school year but on the same day!


The U16 Squad comprised of: John Stewart (captain), Devon Van Oostrum, Jim Rose, Atif Khan, Chris Hughes, Chris Barr, Tom Oakes, Rob O'Neill, Jim Arundale  

The U19 Squad comprised of: Will Hall (capt), Dan Cox, Devon Van Oostrum, John Stewart, Jim Rose, Atif Khan, Rob O'Neill, Chris Hughes, David Spilman, Tom Webster.  

The summary of results is as follows :   U16 Group Stage vs Danum (away) LOST 99-96 AET Silverdale qualified as group runners up   Last 16 Stage vs Shenfield (Home)(Last years U15 national champs) WON 90-79   Quarter Final vs Angmering (played at St Columba's school) WON 108-107   Semi Final vs St Margarets (played at Wright Robinson Sports College) WON 86-69   Final vs Chadwell Heath (played at Hemel Hempstead) WON 105-95    

U19 Group Stage vs Danum (last years U19 national champions)(away) WON 91-79 Silverdale qualified as Group Winners   Last 16 vs St. Columba's  (Home) WON 88-44   Quarter Final vs Danum (away) WON 65-55   Semi Final vs Ellesmere Port (played at St Colomba's school) WON 94-72   Final vs Greig City (played at Hemel Hempstead) WON 94-68    

Other points to note Will Hall England U19 player Devon Van Oostrum England U16/U17 player (u16 England Captain) John Stewart England U16 player Jim Rose North of England U16 player      

The U16 team were also crowned Sheffield City Champions. Devon Van Oostrum was awarded Most Valuable Player in the U19 final and Jim Rose was awarded the honour for the U16 final.
