Silverdale School close in on Cross Country title.

With just one league race remaining (Saturday 12 December at High Hazels Park) Silverdale have opened up a gap of 50 points over their nearest rivals, Bradfield School, in the chase for the overall team trophy. (See current table at the foot of the page).

As well as an overall champion school there are eight individual age group competitions. E. Smith of Bradfield School leads the Y7 girls competition by nine points. In the Y7 boys races J. Shields of Meadowhead School holds a two point lead. In the Y8/9 girls E. Curran of High Storrs heads the list by nine points with L. Clarke of Bradfield School enjoying an eight point lead in the Y8/9 boys. At intermediate girls level B. Ansell of Westfield School has a narrow three point lead over her nearest challenger and T. Baines of Tapton School is six ahead of second place at intermediate boys level. The senior girls sees K. Russell of King Edward VII School four points ahead and J. Gray of Tapton School nine ahead in the senior boys competition.

The list of scoring athletes is an impressive one. Only five of our Secondary schools have no one in the points, Birley, Fir Vale, Stocksbridge, Wisewood and Yewlands.

Twenty four schools are represented in the individual cumulative totals tables (see below) of all athletes that have finished in the first twelve in the four races held so far with just next Saturday's results to be added.

City School team managers are asked to note that the annual 'Block Entry Fee' has to paid before any of their athletes (J Dyball, presently placed fourth in the Y8/9 Boys competition for example) results can count. Should the fee not be paid all City School runners results will be expunged.
