King Ecgbert take Y9 Cricket League Title.

The last Sheffield Schools Cricket final took place today at Abbeydale Sports Club when King Ecgbert and Birley Y9's battled it out to see who would be declared Y9 League Champions for 2008.

Batting first Birley scored 87 for 6 wickets, Harry Doman top scoring with 19 not out. In reply King Ecgbert knocked off that total with just two wickets down to effect a nine wicket win and the honour of declaring themselves Y9 League Champions for 2008. The pick of the Birley bowlers was Louis Fairest-Brown who took 2 wickets for 26 runs. The outstanding performance of the final was that of King Ecgbert's opening batter, Tom Hancock who finished the game on 45 not out. As well as his winning medal Tom received the man of the match trophy for his innings.
