Dobcroft and Mosborough Schools progress in Boys U11 7-a-side Competition

27/11/08

The first rounds of a National Schools 7-a-side competition run by the English Schools' Football Association are held at local level. Sheffield Schools FA are invited to nominate two boys and two girls school teams to represent them in The South Yorkshire finals. From there it is on to a regional final and then possibly a Nationals Finals Day.

The Sheffield Schools Boys competition was held at Sheffeild United Academy on Wednesday 19 November. Dobcroft, Lowedges, Rainbow Forge, Mosborough, Athelstan, Greystones and Marcliffe Schools attended.

Dobcroft won their section with two wins. Mosborough reached the final at the expense of Athelstan by virtue of a goal difference of 4 as opposed to one of 3.

Both schools now progress to the South Yorkshire Round on 29 November at Lillyhall School, Maltby. However, a Sheffield champion was required so Dobcroft and Mosborough squared off for the honour of Sheffield Schools' U11 7-a-side champions 2008. The teams could not be sepersted at the end of regulation time so penalties ensued and Dobcoft emerged the victors.
