Chaucer and Meadowhead boy footballers enjoy success in National competitions

16/1/09

In the ESFA Y7 Boys 5-a-side indoor competition Chaucer School will be representing South Yorkshire in the North of England stage of the competition. Along with fellow Sheffield school Stocksbridge they played in a tournament that also included Priory, Penistone and Don Valley Schools.

Although they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Stocksbridge three other wins (3-0,2-0 and 1-0)  gave them the County title and allowed them to progress to the next stage on their way to what could be an appearance in the National Finals.

Meadowhead Y7 boys are also progressing nicely in the ESFA Match! U12 Schools' Cup. In Round one they received a bye. Subsequent rounds have seen them record 1-0, 6-1, 2-1, and 5-1 victories over Woldgate, Chaucer, St John fisher and Priory Schools respectively.

They have been drawn at home to Don Valley High School (Doncaster) in Round 6 (last 32). That game takes place on Wednesday afternoon 22 January at Meadowhead School.

The winners are away to South Hunsley High School (North Ferriby) or Malet Lambert School (Hull) in the next round.
