Leeds U12's V Sheffield U12's
8th Nov Leeds U12's V Sheffield U12's
Sheffield travelled to Leeds on the back of winning the Plate competition a few weeks earlier. Although we didn't meet Leeds in the competition, we had lost to them in a pre-season friendly 4-3. Leeds away seemed liked a home game to most of the Sheffield supporter's and players, as most of our pre-season games were played there. It was our 1st Junior Star League game and we knew we were up against a good Footballing team.
The early stages were even but Sheffield took control and had most of the possession limiting Leeds to long range shots. Sheffield took a deserved lead, after good work from Danny Beighton on the right wing, he beat his man and put in a superb cross for Joe Greene to tap in the opening goal. Things got even better for Sheffield after an excellent corner into the wind by Jed Phillips was met by Charlie Caseley who powered his header into the net. 0-2 at half time.
The 2nd half was a closer match and Leeds pushed hard for a goal. The next goal would be important and Sheffield made it 0-3 with Danny Beighton getting on the end of a Sheffield attack. However Leeds pushed 3 upfront and after a clumsy foul outside the box, Leeds pulled one back with an unstoppable free kick high into the corner of the Sheffield net. 1-3 and the Leeds confidence was growing, it was going to be a hard last few minutes. With Leeds pushing everyone up for another goal, Sheffield broke and after some cool headed team play, George Scott calmly made it 1-4 with a well taken goal.
Final score 1-4.
Well done to all the Sheffield players, every one had a good game today and all the lads played for each other.
MOM - Jack Baker after a solid performance at the back.
